Obituary for Richard Howard Ingram

Richard Howard Ingram, 82, beloved husband of 63 years to Shirley Ann Lee Ingram, and his family loved him dearly. Our Heavenly Father loved him more and said, “No more suffering, Son.” So today we celebrate him home! Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 3:35 pm Richard walked through the pearly gates onto streets of gold. Born September 5, 1935 in Fairmont City, PA, he was a son of the late Howard G. and Isabelle Rearick Ingram. A retired contractor, Richard was a member of the Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church where he served on various committees and was a member of the Aldersgate Sunday School Class. Richard was also a member of the Fleming County Historical Society, a Kentucky Colonel, and a former volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.
Besides his wife, he is survived by: his daughter, Debra I. (Jesse) Deems of Waynesville, GA; his son, Van L. (Angie) Ingram of Frankfort; three grandchildren, Jessica Deems (Dan) Westerwelle of Seattle, WA, Lauren Ingram (Aaron Nusz) of Louisville, and Mackenzie “Mac” Richard Ingram of New York, NY. Siblings include, Ronald Ingram of Ringgold, GA, Gary (Marie) Ingram of South Gate, MI, Lola Hay of Wallingford, Sharon Andrews of Flemingsburg, and Larry (Jan) Ingram of Ewing; step-mother, Agnes Ingram Johnson of Flemingsburg; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by: sisters, Donna, Patricia and Kay Ingram; and brother, Bill Ingram.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, March 12, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of Flemingsburg. The service will be officiated by Rev. Jesse Deems, Jr., Rev. Larry T. Ingram and Pastor Jeff Lambert. Visitation will be 11am-2pm Monday at the church. Burial will be in Fleming County Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mac Ingram, Christopher Ingram, Garrett Ingram, Aaron Nusz, Ron Ingram, Jeremy Hay, Jason Hazelrigg and Jeff Salyer. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Aldersgate Sunday School Class of the First United Methodist Church of Flemingsburg and Louie Flannery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Kentucky United Methodist Children's Home, 1115 Ashgrove Rd., Nicholasville, KY 40356 or the First United Methodist Church of Flemingsburg, 117 W. Main St., Flemingsburg, KY 41041 or to a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home.
