John Franklin Evans, age 77 of Flemingsburg, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Fleming County Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on August 27, 1941 in Muses Mills, a son of the late Robert Evan Evans and Ruby Hall Evans. John was a lifelong farmer and was well known for his tobacco cutting. He also worked with his father and grandfather in Land Surveying. His other work included working with heavy equipment, particularly bulldozers. He also logged and was very good with a chainsaw. John was very generous and would give you the shirt off his back. He was always ready to help people in their time of need. John also loved animals, always having a dog, and enjoyed going horseback riding. John also loved motorcycles. In his younger days, he would find time to ride his motorcycle everywhere he was able. In later years, he started traveling, having panned for gold in California and Alaska, or up for any adventure he and his sisters thought up. He is survived by: two sisters, Doris McFarland and Ava Rosemary Evans, both of Flemingsburg; a brother, Robert Evan (Ann) Evans, II of Flemingsburg; a niece; and two nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, March 17, 2019 in the chapel of Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Bro. Jerry Boling. Visitation will be 10am-2pm Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Flemingsburg Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clell Vice, Eric Flora, Kenneth Dunaway, Calvin Robinson, William T. “Tommy” Carpenter, Kenny Boling, Chris Mitchell, and Duane Flora.
